Welcome to the Anglo-Israel Archaeological Society.
Founded in 1961 by Professor Yigal Yadin, Dr Alec Lerner, Leon Shalit and Dr Richard Barnett, we are a non-political charitable organisation designed to raise awareness of the rich and fascinating archaeology of Israel and the Middle East.
Throughout the year we support and raise awareness of research and excavation in this region with a busy programme of illustrated lectures and events; the publication of original research in our flagship journal Strata; and grants to help students of Middle Eastern archaeology develop their careers.
Our public lectures are currently being held via zoom, but we hope to return to hosting these in London and Manchester in 2022. We also regularly hold joint events with other institutions and organisations that share our interests, and we arrange museum visits and outings for our members. Non-members may attend our lectures, but are encouraged to join and help support the activities of the Society.
Within this website you will find more information about us and our activities; why not also join us on Facebook or Twitter?
Reg. Charity No. 1195866. The Society is not responsible for material originated by other organisations which may be made available through this website.
