Honorary Treasurer

Following eight years of outstanding service as Honorary Treasurer to the Society, Dr Anthony Rabin has informed our committee of his wish to stand down from this role following this year’s AGM (i.e. from May 2026). As some of you will know, this is something Anthony has been planning for some while, and it is a sign of his generosity that he has remained in the role for longer than originally anticipated. He is willing to remain with AIAS as a Trustee and in that capacity to lead on key issues relating to our core activities.

Our Chair, Professor Sarah Pearce, is therefore writing to invite proposals for electing a new Honorary Treasurer. Anthony generously advises that he is available to discuss the role and will be available in the future to induct and support the new Treasurer in their role.

The role involves keeping our financial records up to date, managing our finances, and ensuring that Trustees and members are fully informed about our financial affairs.

The position carries primary responsibility for our banking and investment relationships, and while you will need to be comfortable with numbers, formal accountancy qualifications are not required.

The new role holder would work closely with the Chair and receive ongoing support from Anthony, who will remain on the Board of Trustees. The expected time commitment is approximately one day per month (excluding Committee, AGM and monthly operations meetings).
